PlaylistTime is a free YouTube playlist length calculator. Paste any public or unlisted playlist link and it adds up every video for you, so you can see the total YouTube playlist length in seconds, the time at 1.25x, 1.5x or 2x, how much is left from the video you are on, and the date you will finish. There is nothing to install and no sign-up. It works as a playlist length checker for courses, lectures, podcasts, music and gaming series, and it also handles YouTube Music playlists and whole channels.
How to calculate YouTube playlist length
- Copy the playlist link. On a computer, open the playlist and copy the address from the browser bar. In the YouTube app, open the playlist, tap Share and then Copy link. Any link that contains
list=works, including links to a video playing inside a playlist. - Paste it into the box above and press Calculate. Small playlists load instantly; big ones load in batches, and a progress bar shows how many videos have been read.
- Read the total and adjust it. Pick a playback speed, set the video you are on, choose how many minutes a day you watch, and the calculator updates the time left and your finish date at once.
How to see the length of a YouTube playlist on your phone
YouTube shows the number of videos on a playlist, but not how long the whole playlist runs, and the app gives you no way to add it up. To check the total length of a YouTube playlist on Android or iPhone, tap Share on the playlist, choose Copy link, open PlaylistTime in your browser and paste the link. The page works the same on mobile and desktop, so you get the full yt playlist length, the time at your speed and every video sorted by length right on your phone.
What the playlist length calculator shows
- Total length of every available video, exact to the second, plus the number of videos counted.
- Average, longest and shortest video, with the titles, so you know what you are signing up for.
- Time at any speed from 0.25x to 4x, with the time you save compared with normal speed.
- Time left from any video number. Tell it you are on video 23 of 80 and it shows what remains, your progress as a percentage and when each video ends.
- A real finish date. Choose the minutes you watch and the days of the week you watch, and it counts only those days.
- Every video sorted by length, longest first or shortest first, with thumbnails so you can be sure it is the right playlist.
- Several playlists at once. Paste up to 10 links into the multiple playlist length calculator to get one combined total and a subtotal for each.
- Export for Excel or Google Sheets, with each video's length, a running total and a clickable link.
YouTube playlist length at every speed
Watching faster is the easiest way to get through a long playlist. Here is how long a 10-hour playlist takes at each common speed:
| Speed | Watch time | Time saved |
|---|---|---|
| 1x | 10h 00m | - |
| 1.25x | 8h 00m | 20% |
| 1.5x | 6h 40m | 33% |
| 1.75x | 5h 43m | 43% |
| 2x | 5h 00m | 50% |
The rule is simple: watch time equals the total length divided by the speed. For a single video, use the watch time calculator.
Why YouTube does not show the total playlist length
YouTube lists how many videos a playlist holds, but it rarely shows the combined running time, and the count can include videos you cannot watch. Private, deleted and region-blocked videos still take up a place in the list, and live streams have no fixed length yet. PlaylistTime reads each video's length from YouTube's official data, adds up only the videos that can be played, and tells you how many it skipped and why. If the total ever looks wrong, our guide on why a playlist length looks wrong explains the usual causes.
YouTube Music and other playlists
The same calculator works for YouTube Music: paste a music.youtube.com playlist or album link to get the exact total, every song sorted by length and the time for a drive, a workout or a party. Spotify shows a rounded total under each playlist, while YouTube Music often shows only a song count, so a precise playlist length counter is most useful there. For a whole channel, the channel length calculator times every public upload.
Who uses a playlist length calculator
- Students and self-learners working through course playlists, who want to know whether they can finish before an exam. The study planner turns a deadline into minutes a day and a daily schedule.
- Language learners planning a daily listening routine from a series of lessons.
- Teachers checking how much viewing they are assigning before setting homework.
- Fans catching up on a creator's series, a season of a show or a long gaming playthrough.
- Creators checking the running time of their own playlists and spotting which videos run long.
Tips for finishing long playlists
- Speed up gradually. Start at 1.25x and move up as your ear adjusts. Most people follow speech comfortably up to about 1.5x.
- Set a daily amount, not a finish line. Thirty minutes every weekday finishes a 20-hour course in eight weeks.
- Track where you are. Enter the video you are on to see what is left instead of guessing.
- Mix long and short. Sort the playlist by length to find quick videos for short breaks and keep the long ones for days off.
Why PlaylistTime
Older playlist length finders show a single number and stop there. PlaylistTime gives you the total and then helps you act on it: progress from any video, a finish date that respects the days you actually watch, thumbnails to confirm the playlist, sorting, combined playlists and a spreadsheet export. It reads up to 5,000 videos per playlist, uses YouTube's official API instead of scraping, stores nothing about you, and is free. Prefer one click? Add the playlist length button to your browser and open any playlist's length straight from YouTube.

Questions
How do I see the length of a YouTube playlist?
Copy the playlist link (it contains "list="), paste it into the box at the top of this page and press Calculate. You get the total running time, the number of videos, the average, longest and shortest video, and the time at any playback speed.
How do I check the total length of a YouTube playlist on my phone?
In the YouTube app, open the playlist, tap Share and then Copy link. Open PlaylistTime in your phone's browser, paste the link and press Calculate. The calculator works the same on Android and iPhone.
Why doesn't YouTube show the total length of a playlist?
YouTube shows how many videos a playlist has, but usually not its total running time. PlaylistTime adds up every video's length for you using YouTube's official data.
How is the playlist length at 1.25x, 1.5x or 2x calculated?
The total length is divided by the speed. A 10-hour playlist takes 8 hours at 1.25x, 6 hours 40 minutes at 1.5x and 5 hours at 2x. Use the custom box for any speed between 0.25x and 4x.
Can I find out how much of a playlist is left?
Yes. After calculating, type the video you are on in "I'm on video" and the last one you will watch in "up to video". You get the time left from that video number, how far through you are and the date you will finish.
Does it work with YouTube Music playlists?
Yes. Paste a YouTube Music playlist or album link and you get the exact total and every song sorted by length. There is also a page just for YouTube Music.
Is there a YouTube playlist length extension?
Yes, a one-click bookmark button: add it once, then click it on any YouTube playlist to open its length here. See the playlist length extension page for the button. A full Chrome extension is on the way.
Does it work with private playlists or Watch Later?
Public and unlisted playlists work. Private playlists, Watch Later and Liked videos can only be seen by their owner, so they cannot be read from a link. Copy the videos into an unlisted playlist and paste that link instead.
How many videos can a YouTube playlist have?
A YouTube playlist can hold up to 5,000 videos. PlaylistTime reads all of them, loading large playlists in batches.
Why are some videos not counted?
Private, deleted and currently live videos have no fixed length, so they are listed but left out of the total. The count shows how many were skipped.
Is the playlist length calculator free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, and nothing is stored about you. It uses YouTube API Services to read public playlist data.
