PlaylistTime / Timestamps
YouTube timestamp link generator
Make a YouTube link with a timestamp: paste the video, type the time, and copy a link that starts at that exact moment. Works on mobile too.
Add a title after a time to build chapters. Use a range like 12:40-14:00 for an embed that stops at the end time.

How to add a timestamp to a YouTube link
A YouTube link with a timestamp is the normal video link with the start time on the end:
- Short links (youtu.be): add
?t=and the time, likeyoutu.be/VIDEO?t=90. - Full links (youtube.com/watch?v=): add
&t=, likeyoutube.com/watch?v=VIDEO&t=90s, because the link already has a question mark. - The time can be seconds (
t=90) or minutes and seconds (t=1m30s). Both start at 1:30.
The generator above does this for you, for one timestamp or many at once, and checks the link with a live preview.
How to copy a YouTube link with a timestamp
On a computer
- Pause the video at the moment you want to share.
- Right-click the video and choose Copy video URL at current time.
- Or click Share under the video, tick Start at, check the time, and click Copy.
On mobile (iPhone and Android)
The Share button in the YouTube app copies the link without the time, so the video opens at the start. To share a YouTube timestamp link from your phone:
- Pause the video and note the time on the progress bar.
- Tap Share, then Copy link.
- Paste the link and the time into this generator and copy the new link. Or type
?t=and the seconds at the end of the link yourself (use&t=if the link already contains a?).
How to send a YouTube link with a timestamp
Use the short youtu.be link with the time on the end. It is the neatest in WhatsApp, iMessage, Discord, Slack, email and social posts, and it opens at the right moment in the YouTube app and in any browser. Sending several moments from one video? Put one time per line in the generator and copy each link.
How to link a timestamp in YouTube comments
In a comment or a video description, you do not need a link at all. Type the time, like 4:05 or 1:02:30, and YouTube turns it into a clickable timestamp that jumps to that moment in the same video. To point to a moment in a different video, paste a full timestamp link instead.
Three link formats
- Short link:
youtu.be/VIDEO?t=90. Best for messages and social posts. - Full link:
youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO&t=90s. Works everywhere. - Embed:
youtube-nocookie.com/embed/VIDEO?start=90&end=120. The only way to set an end time.
YouTube embed start time parameter
To make an embedded YouTube video start at a set point, add ?start= and the time in seconds to the embed URL, like youtube.com/embed/VIDEO?start=90. Add &end= to stop it, like ?start=90&end=120. Embeds take whole seconds, so 1:30 becomes 90, and they use start, not the t= from watch links. Type a time or a range above and the generator writes the full iframe embed code for you.
Need the length of the whole video or playlist? Try the watch time calculator or the playlist length calculator.
Questions
How do I add a timestamp to a YouTube link?
Add ?t= and the time to the end of a youtu.be link, for example youtu.be/VIDEO?t=90 or youtu.be/VIDEO?t=1m30s. On a youtube.com/watch link, add &t=90s instead, because the link already has a question mark. Or paste the link and the time into the generator above and copy the result.
How do I send a YouTube link with a timestamp?
Make a short youtu.be link with ?t= on the end and paste it into any message, email, WhatsApp, Discord or text. It opens at that moment in the YouTube app and in browsers.
How do I copy a YouTube link with a timestamp on a computer?
Pause the video where you want it to start, then right-click the video and choose "Copy video URL at current time". You can also click Share, tick "Start at", and copy the link.
How do I copy a YouTube link with a timestamp on mobile?
The YouTube app's Share button copies a link without the time. Note the time on the progress bar, then paste the link and the time into this generator, or add ?t= and the seconds to the end of the link yourself.
How do I link a timestamp in YouTube comments?
Type the time in the comment, like 4:05 or 1:02:30. YouTube turns it into a clickable link that jumps to that moment in the same video. No URL is needed. Timestamps in the video description work the same way.
What time formats work in a YouTube timestamp link?
Plain seconds (t=90 or t=90s), minutes and seconds (t=1m30s) and hours (t=1h2m30s) all work. The generator accepts 1:30, 1:02:30 or 1h 2m 30s and writes the link for you.
Can a YouTube link stop at an end time?
Normal watch links can only set a start time. Embedded videos can use both start and end, so the generator gives you an embed code that plays only the part you choose.
How do I make an embedded YouTube video start at a certain time?
Add ?start= and the time in seconds to the embed URL, for example youtube.com/embed/VIDEO?start=90 to start at 1:30. Add &end= to stop it. The generator above writes the full embed code for you.
How do I add chapters to my YouTube video?
Paste a list of timestamps with titles into your video description. The first must be 0:00, you need at least three, and each chapter must be at least 10 seconds long. Type your chapters above and the generator checks these rules and formats the list.
