Banner
These images belong to the channel. Saving one to look at, for reference or for your own channel is fine; using another channel's picture or banner as your own is a copyright risk and can count as impersonation under YouTube's rules.
This YouTube profile picture downloader gets a channel's profile picture in full size, the way it was uploaded, and the channel's banner image. Paste a channel link, an @handle or a link to one of its videos. You get the largest picture file YouTube keeps, the three standard sizes the YouTube API lists (800, 240 and 88 pixels), the banner as uploaded and at YouTube's recommended 2560 pixels wide, each with its real size in pixels. Copy the link, open it or save the image. It works as a YouTube PFP downloader and a YouTube banner downloader in one, with no sign-in.
How does the profile picture downloader work?
The official YouTube Data API returns a channel's picture as a web address on YouTube's image server, with the size written at the end (for example =s800 for 800 pixels), and the banner's address in a field called bannerExternalUrl. The downloader reads those addresses, then asks the image server for each size. With =s0 the server sends the largest file it has, which is the picture as the channel uploaded it. Your browser loads each file and the page shows the size it really has.
Worked example from our tests on 26 October 2026: for Canal KondZilla the original profile picture was 1080 x 1080 px and the original banner 4417 x 2484 px. For Topper Guild the original picture was only 623 x 623 px, so the 800 x 800 size YouTube's API lists was an enlarged copy of it; the downloader marks such sizes as enlarged.
How to download a YouTube profile picture in full size
Step 1: Copy the channel link
Open the channel and copy its address, or type its @handle. A link to any of its videos works too.
Step 2: Press Get images
The downloader asks the YouTube Data API for the channel's picture and banner, then loads every size in your browser.
Step 3: Pick a size
Each row shows the real size of the file. Original is the largest YouTube has; a size marked enlarged is bigger than the original and adds no detail.
Step 4: Copy or save
Copy link copies the image address, Open shows it in a new tab and Save image downloads the file.
What size is a YouTube profile picture?
YouTube shows the profile picture as a small circle; its help page says the picture renders at 98 x 98 px, accepts JPG, GIF (not animated), BMP or PNG files, and should not exceed 15 MB. The API lists three sizes for every channel: 88 x 88 (default), 240 x 240 (medium) and 800 x 800 (high). The original file is often bigger. Among the 100 most-subscribed channels:
Width of the largest file YouTube serves for each profile picture of the 100 channels in our most-subscribed list, measured 26 October 2026. Median about 900 px; 83 were exactly square, the rest were a pixel or two off.
So "full size" differs from channel to channel: about a third of the biggest channels uploaded a picture smaller than 800 px. For those, the 800 px copy has no more detail than the original.
What size is a YouTube banner?
YouTube recommends a 2560 x 1440 px banner, accepts 2048 x 1152 px as the minimum with a 16:9 shape, and allows files up to 6 MB. At the minimum size, the area that shows on every device (for text and logos) is 1235 x 338 px. Of the 98 channels in our most-subscribed list with a banner, 55 had uploaded exactly 2560 x 1440, 18 the minimum 2048 x 1152, 16 a larger image (up to 10667 x 6000) and 9 something in between. Two had no banner.
How to see a YouTube profile picture bigger
On YouTube the picture is a small circle and cannot be enlarged. Paste the channel here and open the Original size: it shows the whole square image at the size it was uploaded. On a phone, open this page in your browser, paste the channel link (Share, then Copy link on the channel page) and tap Open or Save image.
Why is the profile picture blurry?
- The original is small. If the channel uploaded a small image, every larger size is a stretched copy. The downloader shows the original's size so you can see this.
- The circle crops it. YouTube cuts the corners off the square image; the saved file is the full square.
- Compression. YouTube's image server re-encodes pictures, usually as JPG, which can soften fine detail.
How to change your own YouTube profile picture or banner
- Open YouTube Studio and choose Customization, then Profile.
- Under Picture or Banner image, choose Change and upload a new image.
- Adjust the crop and press Publish.
Use a square picture of at least 800 x 800 px so it stays sharp at every size, and a banner of 2560 x 1440 px with text kept in the middle 1235 x 338 px area.
Can I use someone else's profile picture?
Not as your own. A channel's picture and banner belong to that channel, often with a logo or a person's face on them. YouTube's copyright help says giving credit does not give you the right to use someone's content, and YouTube's impersonation policy names copying another channel's profile picture or banner as impersonation. Saving a picture to look at it, use it as a reference, or get your own channel's files back is fine.
How accurate is this downloader?
The images come straight from YouTube's image server and the sizes shown are what your browser actually loaded. The 88, 240 and 800 px sizes and the banner field are documented in the YouTube Data API. The =s0 and =w2560 size options are not documented: they worked in our tests on 26 October 2026 and YouTube could change them, in which case a size will show as could not load. A channel that just changed its picture can show the old one for up to 6 hours, because we keep each answer that long.

Why we built this profile picture downloader
Most profile picture downloaders give one fixed size and never tell you whether it is the real picture or a stretched copy, and many ignore the banner. Nitin Raja, who builds PlaylistTime, tested a lot of these pages before building this one: after testing out a lot of websites, he found what people need and what they do not, and built around that. People need the original file, its true size, the banner, and a plain word on what they may do with someone else's picture.
What this downloader does
- Finds the channel from a handle, channel link, legacy link or video link with the official YouTube Data API (one or two lookups, never YouTube search).
- Builds the image server address for the original and each standard size, loads each in your browser and shows its real size; marks sizes that are larger than the original.
- Copies the link, opens the image or saves it as a file.
- What it does not do: it does not show past profile pictures, anything private, or pictures of deleted channels. It stores nothing; the share link holds only what you typed.

Questions
How do I download a YouTube profile picture in full size?
Paste the channel link or @handle into the downloader above and press Get images. Save the Original size: it is the largest file YouTube keeps for that picture.
What size is a YouTube profile picture?
YouTube shows it at 98 x 98 px. The API lists 88, 240 and 800 px copies. The original file varies: among the 100 most-subscribed channels it ranged from 220 to over 4,000 px wide in our test.
Can I download a channel's banner too?
Yes. The downloader shows the banner as it was uploaded and at 2560 and 1280 pixels wide, with copy and save buttons.
Why is the 800 x 800 picture blurry?
When the channel uploaded a picture smaller than 800 px, YouTube enlarges it for that size. The downloader marks such copies; save the Original instead.
Can I use another channel's profile picture?
Not as your own. It belongs to that channel, credit does not give you the right to use it, and copying a channel's look can break YouTube's impersonation rules.
Does this work on a phone?
Yes. Copy the channel link in the YouTube app (Share, then Copy link), paste it here in your browser and tap Save image.
