YouTube playlist length extension

One click on any YouTube playlist shows its total length. Works in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari, with no install and no permissions.

PlaylistTime

Drag this button to your bookmarks bar.
No bookmarks bar? Press Ctrl+Shift+B (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+B (Mac).

  1. Drag the red button above onto your bookmarks bar.
  2. Open any YouTube playlist (or a channel page).
  3. Click PlaylistTime in your bookmarks. Its length opens in a new tab.

The PlaylistTime button is a lightweight YouTube playlist duration extension that lives in your bookmarks bar. Click it on any YouTube playlist and the playlist length calculator opens with that playlist filled in: the total time, the time at 1.25x to 2x, time left from any video and a finish date.

Works in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari

Because it is a bookmark rather than a store extension, the same button works in every desktop browser: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, Opera and Safari. There is nothing to install, no permissions to grant, and no add-on to keep updated.

Playlist duration extension not working?

Store extensions that add a total time to the YouTube page often break when YouTube changes its layout. This button only reads the address of the page you are on, so YouTube redesigns cannot break it. If nothing happens when you click it, make sure the page address contains list= (a playlist) or /@ (a channel).

What it does

On a playlist, the button opens the YouTube playlist length calculator. On a channel page it opens the channel length calculator for every upload. It works on YouTube Music playlists too.

Chrome extension

A full Chrome extension that shows the total time right on YouTube's playlist page, including your private Watch Later list, is on the way. Until then, the bookmark button gives you the same result in one click.

Questions

Is there a YouTube playlist length extension?

Yes. The PlaylistTime button on this page works like an extension in any browser: drag it to your bookmarks bar once, then click it on any YouTube playlist to see its total length. A full Chrome extension is on the way.

Does it work in Firefox?

Yes. The button works the same in Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Safari, because it is a bookmark rather than a browser add-on.

Why a bookmark button instead of a Chrome extension?

It needs no install and no permissions, works in every desktop browser, and cannot break when YouTube changes its pages. It only reads the address of the page you are on.

My playlist duration extension stopped working. Will this one?

Store extensions can break when YouTube changes its layout. This button only reads the page address, so YouTube redesigns do not affect it.

Does it work on channels?

Yes. Click it on a channel page (youtube.com/@name) and it opens the channel length calculator for every upload.

Does it work on my phone?

Mobile browsers hide the bookmarks bar, so it is easier to use Share, then Copy link, in the YouTube app and paste the link on the PlaylistTime homepage.

What does the button send?

Only the playlist or channel ID from the page address, to open it on PlaylistTime. Nothing about you or your account.
