TikTok comment picker: draw a random giveaway winner

Copy the comments from your TikTok video, paste them here and draw a random winner. No login, and nothing you paste leaves your browser.

More options

Nothing you paste leaves your browser: reading the comments and the draw both run on this page.

This TikTok comment picker draws a random giveaway winner from comments you paste. TikTok does not let outside sites read a video's comments, so you copy them from the video, paste them here, check what was read, and press Pick winners. The page reads each commenter's name and comment, shows you the list so you can fix anything it misread, and applies the usual giveaway rules: one entry per person (on from the start), a required word or hashtag, a minimum number of @mentions for "tag a friend" giveaways, and your own account left out. The draw uses your browser's cryptographic random generator and gives you a record to post. No login, no app, and nothing you paste is uploaded.

How to copy TikTok comments

On a computer

  1. Open the video on tiktok.com and open its comments. TikTok may ask you to sign in to see them.
  2. Scroll the comment panel until every comment you need has loaded.
  3. Select from the first commenter's name to the end of the last comment (click, then Shift-click, or drag) and press Ctrl+C (Cmd+C on a Mac).
  4. Paste here. Times, like counts, "Reply" and "View replies" lines are ignored.

On a phone

We know of no way to select a whole list of comments in the TikTok app, so a computer is the practical way. For a small giveaway you can also type the entries yourself, one per line as username: comment.

How to pick a winner from TikTok comments

  1. Paste the comments into the box. The count of comments and people appears as you paste.
  2. Check what was read under Show what was read, and edit the text or change the layout if something looks wrong.
  3. Set the rules under More options: a required word, the number of @mentions, your own account to leave out, alternates.
  4. Press Pick winners and copy the result for your announcement.

Why do I have to paste the comments?

TikTok's developer APIs for apps cover a signed-in user's own profile and videos, not the comments on them. Comment text is only offered through TikTok's Research API, which is for approved researchers working on a non-profit basis, not for giveaway tools. So this picker works from what you paste, needs no login, and keeps everything in your browser.

How the picker reads pasted comments

Text copied from a comment list usually comes as blocks: the commenter's name, the comment, a date such as "2d ago", "Reply" and a like count, sometimes with "Creator" or "View 3 replies". TikTok's site is not available where we tested from, so we could not check its current layout ourselves; that is why the page always shows what it read. The picker splits the text at each "Reply", drops those labels, dates and counts, and keeps the first line as the name and the rest as the comment. You can also paste one comment per line as username: comment or @username comment. Anything it cannot read is listed, so nothing disappears quietly.

Worked example: your chance of winning

Every eligible entry has the same chance: winners divided by eligible entries. Say you paste 300 comments and they come from 210 people. With one entry per person, 210 entries go into the draw; for 2 winners each person has a 2 in 210 chance, about 0.95%. Someone who commented 15 times has the same chance as someone who commented once.

Names on TikTok: display name or username

Comment lists show the name the commenter chose to display, which is not always their @username, and two people can have the same display name. One entry per person compares the names as copied, so in the rare case of two identical display names they count as one. Check the winner's profile before you announce.

"Tag a friend" giveaways: the @mention filter

Set At least this many @mentions to the number of friends your rules ask for. Comments with fewer @usernames are left out. The picker counts mentions in the text; it cannot check the tagged accounts.

Can it check that winners follow me?

No. Followers and likes are not part of the copied comments, and TikTok does not give them to outside sites. Check the winner by hand and draw alternates in case they do not qualify. Check TikTok's terms and the contest rules where you live before you run a giveaway.

Why we built this TikTok comment picker

Giveaway winners on TikTok are often picked by scrolling and pointing, which nobody can check afterwards, or with tools that want a login. Nitin Raja, who builds PlaylistTime, tested a lot of these pages before building this one: after testing out a lot of websites, he found what people need and what they do not, and built around that. So this picker works from text you paste, shows exactly what it read, and draws in your browser with a record you can post.

Questions

How do I pick a random comment on TikTok?

Copy the comments from your video on tiktok.com in a computer browser, paste them into this picker, check what was read and press Pick winners. It draws at random in your browser.

Why can't I just paste the video link?

TikTok does not give a video's comments to outside sites; comment data is only offered to approved researchers. So you paste the comments instead, and nothing leaves your browser.

How do I copy TikTok comments?

On a computer, open the video on tiktok.com, open the comments, scroll until they have all loaded, select from the first to the last and copy. We know of no way to select a whole list in the app.

Can it pick a winner who tagged friends?

Yes. Set At least this many @mentions under More options, and comments with fewer @usernames are left out.

Can one person win twice?

Not with One entry per person, which is on from the start: each name counts once.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Reading the comments and the draw both run in your browser, and the share link holds only your settings.
