YouTube upload schedule: when channels post, and the best time to post
Paste a channel and see when it really publishes: a day-by-hour map of its last 200 uploads in your time zone, its usual days and times, and the gaps between uploads.
More options: time zone
This YouTube upload schedule checker shows when a channel actually publishes. Paste an @handle, a channel link or one of its video links. The tool reads the channel's last 200 public uploads (or all of them, if it has fewer) and draws a heatmap of the days and hours they went public, in your time zone. You also get its usual posting day and time, how many videos it posts a week, the typical and longest gaps between uploads, and a light view of how videos posted at different times performed.
Use it to learn a creator's schedule, to see when channels in your niche post, or to check your own consistency. Change the time zone under More options to see the schedule as the creator's audience sees it.
What is the best time to post on YouTube?
There is no single best time that works for every channel, and any page that gives one hour for everybody is guessing. YouTube's own answer is to look at your audience: YouTube Studio has a report called When your viewers are on YouTube that shows when your viewers were online over the last 28 days. Posting shortly before your viewers' busiest hours gives a new video time to be processed and ready when they arrive.
What this page adds is the other half: what channels like yours actually do. Look up three or four successful channels in your niche, see the days and hours they publish, and compare that with your own audience report. That is evidence from real channels, not a universal rule.
How does the upload schedule checker work?
For each upload YouTube returns the exact moment the video was published (for a scheduled video or a Premiere, the moment it went public). The tool converts each time to the time zone you choose, counts uploads per weekday and hour, and colours the heatmap: the darker the square, the more uploads in that hour. It also finds the two-hour window with the most uploads, so videos posted at 4:58 and 5:02 count together.
Worked example: Veritasium
On 26 October 2026, Veritasium's last 200 uploads ran from 1 December 2022 to 23 October 2026, about one a week, with a typical gap of 6 days and a longest break of 36 days. Thursday was the busiest day (43 of 200 uploads). In UTC the most common hours were 13:00 (39 uploads) and 14:00 (26), which is 9 and 10 AM in New York during daylight saving time. Switch the time zone and the same uploads move to other hours and, near midnight, to other days.
How to check a YouTube channel's upload schedule, step by step
1. Paste the channel
An @handle, a channel link, or a link to any video or Short from the channel.
2. Press Show schedule
The tool reads up to 200 recent public uploads and draws the heatmap in your time zone.
3. Change the time zone if you need to
Open More options, type a city or region and pick it from the list. Use my time zone switches back.
4. Read the summary and share it
The first sentence gives the usual day and time. Copy the link to this schedule to share the same channel and time zone.
Best time to post on YouTube by day of the week
People search for the best time to post on a Monday, a Saturday or a Sunday. The honest answer is the same for every day: it depends on when your viewers watch. The day chart on this page shows which days a channel favours; if the successful channels in your niche avoid weekends, or post mainly on Thursdays, that is a pattern worth testing against your own audience report, not a law.
Best time to post YouTube Shorts
Shorts are published the same way as other videos, so they appear in this schedule too; YouTube's API does not label which uploads are Shorts. Channels that post daily Shorts and weekly long videos show a dense pattern with a few stronger squares. YouTube's audience report in Studio covers your viewers across formats, which is the better guide for timing Shorts.
How to find a YouTube channel's upload schedule by hand
On YouTube, the Videos tab shows uploads as "3 days ago", which hides the hour. For one video, the upload time checker gives the exact time to the second. This page does the same for up to 200 uploads at once and shows the pattern.
How consistent is a channel? Gaps between uploads
- Uploads per week: the number of uploads across the period read, divided by its length in weeks.
- Typical gap: the median time between two uploads in a row, which ignores one-off long breaks.
- Longest gap: the longest break, with its dates in the list beside the day chart.
- Uploads in the last 30 days and time since the last upload show whether the channel is active now.
Does posting time affect views?
The last chart shows the median views of uploads posted in each three-hour block. Treat it lightly. Videos posted at a channel's usual time are often its main videos, while odd hours may hold Shorts, clips or live replays, so the chart mostly shows what a channel posts when, not that the hour caused the views. Videos less than a week old are left out because they are still gathering views. If one block clearly leads across several channels in your niche, it may be worth a test on your own channel.
Plan your own upload schedule
- Open YouTube Studio, Analytics, Audience, and read When your viewers are on YouTube.
- Check your own channel here to see when you actually post and how regular you are.
- Check a few channels in your niche to see what works for them.
- Pick a day and time a little before your viewers' busy hours, schedule your uploads for it, and keep it steady for a few weeks before judging.
How accurate is it?
- Publish times are exact to the second, from YouTube's official data.
- Only public uploads are read: private, unlisted and deleted videos are not visible. Live and upcoming streams are left out.
- The time is when a video went public, not when the file was uploaded. A video scheduled a week ahead counts at its publish time.
- Channels with more than 200 uploads show only the latest 200, which keeps the pattern current.

Why we built this upload schedule checker
Most "best time to post on YouTube" answers are one chart of hours for everybody, with no data behind it. Nitin Raja, who builds PlaylistTime, tested a lot of these pages before building this one: after testing out a lot of websites, he found what people need and what they do not, and built around that. What people need is real evidence: when do channels like mine post, how regular are they, and what does my own audience report say. This page gives the first two from real uploads and points to YouTube's report for the third.
What we measure
- The exact publish time of a channel's latest 200 public uploads, converted to any time zone.
- Uploads per weekday and hour, the busiest two-hour window, uploads per week, median and longest gaps, uploads in the last 30 days.
- Median views by three-hour posting block, for uploads at least 7 days old.
- What we do not measure: when viewers are online (only YouTube Studio has that, for your own channel), Shorts versus long videos, or anything about private uploads.
Why it is different
| This tool | Typical best-time articles | |
|---|---|---|
| Data | Real uploads of the channel you choose | One generic chart |
| Time zone | Yours by default, any on request | Usually US Eastern only |
| Consistency | Uploads per week, gaps, recent activity | Not covered |
| Views by hour | Shown with a correlation caveat | Often presented as a rule |
Questions
What is the best time to post on YouTube?
There is no single best time for every channel. YouTube recommends using the When your viewers are on YouTube report in YouTube Studio, which shows when your viewers were online in the last 28 days. This page shows when successful channels in your niche actually post, so you can compare.
How can I see when a YouTube channel uploads?
Paste the channel's @handle, link or one of its video links into this page. It reads up to 200 recent public uploads and shows the days and hours they went public in your time zone.
What time zone are the times in?
Your device's time zone by default. Open More options to pick any other, for example the creator's own or your audience's. The share link keeps the time zone you chose.
What is the best time to post YouTube Shorts?
The same rule applies: when your viewers are online. Shorts appear in this schedule along with other uploads, because YouTube's API does not label which uploads are Shorts.
Does the time I post affect my views?
Sometimes, but the pattern is weak and easy to misread. The views-by-hour chart here shows correlation, not cause: a channel's usual hour often holds its main videos. Test a time on your own channel for a few weeks.
Why are some of a channel's videos missing?
Only public uploads are visible, the latest 200 at most, and live or upcoming streams are left out. Private, unlisted and deleted videos cannot be read.
